Medical sales soon to market direct to patients
It would have be unthinkable in years gone by, but now, under new EU law medical sales companies will be marketing prescription medicines directly to patients.
It's sending shock waves through the British Medical Association who are expecting Doctors to be flooded with patients brainwashed into wanting their products through advertising. The biggest concern is that the change may finish off the already struggling drugs budget.
The light at the end of the tunnel lies in the USA where the same change was made 10 years ago. Their medical sales industry spent billions on advertising before research showed it to be ineffective! It seems that patients are clever enough to see the bias in the advertising and leave the final decision to the Doctor.
If patients draw the same conclusion over here, the BMS will be breathing a sigh of relief.
